A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
Below you will find my scenic designer’s driving research, documents I developed as an Assistant Scenic Designer, as well as a Rendering of one of the spaces I did for this project.
The overall inspirational behind the direction of the scenery. Our director wanted to emphasize the sexual freedom of the show to bring forth its sex comedy aspects, citing that we needn’t take every Shakespeare play so seriously. The set was largely based around cages as both BDSM-esque and playing spaces for the performers.
An Isometric Drawing of the stage/bedding atop the platform. As noted in the title block, I completed all of the drafting for the show (with the guidance and notes from my mentor Marc Haniuk of course).
The plot for this show was a tad more intensive than other shows I’ve done drafting work for. No ground plan existed of the location we were performing in, so we had to measure out each room and I was tasked with drafting the confines of the space as well as the set and proposed seating arrangement.
The watercolor rendering I did for the Athens space.
