RED CURTAIN BROADWAY REVUE 2016

I was on the Lighting Design team for this Red Curtain Broadway Revue at Central Washington University in November of 2016, and was also Master Electrician. Below are some production photos from the show. The photos featured are from songs I programmed.

This production of Red Curtain was my first lighting design experience (outside of class projects). It was a perfect beginner’s experience for me because, with a rep plot provided for me by my Lighting Design professor for the show (Joshua Legate) I was able to focus on just experimenting with programming. The burden of developing the plot was not on me like a typical lighting design, so I got to key in on a few numbers to really make them shine. My contribution to the show was a success in that I went out and gave it my all. The failures of my contribution largely came in some design choices (using a harsh red during I Can Hardly Speak My Heart, which as Christina Barrigan pointed out to me after the fact in debrief made it seem as if the soloist might have been a murderer, using a less than desirable color for the followspots, etc.) but I did my work efficiently, researched each song thoroughly, communicated with my directors, and threw together some decent moments of lighting design.
